Fortnite's end-of-season event takes the map underwater
The Device Event
A few hours ago Fortnite marked the end of season 2 with a spectacular event as usual. This time the live event evolved around 'The Agency' which has been one of the most popular POIs throughout the season. The event kicked off with 5 electricity pillars rising from the respective hatches in the water around the agency and midas' ore rising from it's center destroying a big part of it. The ore was producing energy for the pillars which were seemingly 'fighting' against the storm pushing it to the edges of the map. For the very first time in Fortnite, players got to experience a first-person perspective inside an office where 'Agent Jonesy' (leaked skin) was talking on the phone about the storm.
Season 3
As the players returned to the Battle Royale island the storm was replaced by enormous tidal waves which had covered nearly the entire map with water. They could move, build and shoot normally but it looks like the underwater-theme that has been speculated for season 3 for a long time now is starting to get confirmed.
We do not know if the map will remain in this state for the official season 3 launch this Thursday but nevertheless it's very likely that a big part of the next season is going to be water-themed.
